Euronews: way of errors

There can be no censorship or manipulations in Ukrainian Euronews? It’s rather doubtful.
Thelaunch of Ukrainian Euronews wasmarked by ascandal: highlighting the opposition protest actions on the Independence Day, the channel understated the number of participants and generally gave rather selective image of the events. Oppositional Yulia Tymoshenko’s Bloc appealed to the founders of the channel asking to prevent pro-government popularization. The head of Ukrainian officeFidel Pavlenko denied the charges of being politically committed and told that “hundreds” of participants instead of “thousands” of them appeared in the news due to some unpleasant mistake.

Euronews : the Adapted Version

The international media all reported the events in Kyiv on Independence Day. Details obviously differed, however not so very radically. All of them, Reuters, Associated Press, the BBC and many others explained that the protests were primarily over the trial and detention of former Prime Minister and Leader of the opposition Batkivshchyna Party, Yulia Tymoshenko, and other ministers and officials from her government.

Washington
The Middle East and North Africa saw dramatic if precarious gains in press freedom in 2011, and for the first time in eight years, global media freedom did not experience an overall decline, according to a Freedom House report released today. However, due to downgrades in some previously free countries, the percentage of the world’s population living in societies with a fully free press has fallen to its lowest level in over a decade.
